Haria – Oasis in the North
In the northern part of the Canary island of Lanzarote the white houses of Haria are shaded by hundreds of palm trees and give the place the name “Valley of thousand Palm Trees”. The charm of the village has also seduced artist César Manrique, who built his second home in Haria and lived and work there over the last years of his life.
Now, by the end of winter, you occasionally witness a fascinating transformation of Haria’s countryside: sprouts of grass and flowers start emerging from the usually dry soil and soon meadows with white, yellow and blue flowers decorate the surroundings of the village. If you are lucky and stay on Lanzarote during that period (between January and April, depending on rainfall) you should visit the northern part of the island and do a walk around Haria or on the ridge of the 600mts high cliff of Famara to enjoy natures beauty. For a guided tour check our half day excursions.

Daisies (Glebionis Coronaria) cover the meadows around the village of Haria.
Adding to the attractivness of Haria you’ll find good restaurants (Tacande, La Puerta Verde, La Tegala), one of the nicest small hotels of the island (La Casa de los Naranjos) and a small market on Saturday morning. (More info: www.ayuntamientodeharia.com)
